Privacy & Processing

Does Verbatim store any of my content?

No. Your files are processed on your device. No video, audio, or caption information leaves your device. We do not store this type of information on our servers.

Does Verbatim upload my videos for transcription?

No. Verbatim processes videos locally on your device. Your video does not need to be uploaded to a cloud service to create captions.

Can Verbatim see my captions?

No. Caption text is generated and edited on your device. Verbatim does not collect, review, or store your caption text.

Does Verbatim use my videos, audio, or captions to train AI models?

No. Verbatim does not collect your video, audio, or caption content, so it is not used to train AI models.

Does Verbatim require an internet connection?

Verbatim can create captions and export videos on-device. An internet connection may be needed for purchases, restoring purchases, subscription checks, ads, or account-related services. Premium users have a fully offline workflow that only requires periodic subscription validation, typically after being offline for more than 72 hours.

Caption Creation

How long does it take to select a video and get captions?

This varies depending on your device and the length of the video. Newer devices, such as the iPhone 17 Pro, will perform best. A minute of video normally takes about 5–10 seconds to create and format your captions.

Are captions created automatically?

Yes. Verbatim automatically creates captions from your video’s audio. You can review and edit the captions before exporting.

How accurate are the captions?

Verbatim is designed to create highly accurate captions, but accuracy can vary based on audio quality, background noise, accents, music, overlapping speakers, and microphone clarity. You can edit captions before export.

Depending on your device, you may be prompted to complete a one-time download for higher accuracy. This option is also available in Settings for eligible devices. It can notably improve caption quality and is recommended for all eligible devices.

Can I edit the captions?

Yes. You can edit caption text and timing before exporting. Premium users and single-video unlock users also get access to advanced editing tools for eligible videos.

Does Verbatim support videos with no audio?

Verbatim needs spoken audio to create captions. If a video has no audio track or no detectable speech, captions may not be generated.

Exporting & Video Quality

Does Verbatim add a watermark?

No. Verbatim does not add a watermark to your videos. We want you to maintain maximum control of your content. If you like the app, we simply ask that you help us share it with others.

Can I export captions as a file?

Yes. Verbatim supports exporting caption files in SRT and ASS formats.

Can I burn captions directly into my video?

Yes. Verbatim can export a new video with captions permanently added.

Does Verbatim support HDR video?

Yes. Verbatim is designed to preserve HDR workflows where supported by your device and source video.

Does Verbatim need to be in the foreground during export?

Yes. Verbatim needs to remain in the foreground during export. This is an iOS requirement due to the intensive video processing involved. If you background or close the app, Verbatim uses a resumable workflow so your progress should not be lost.

How long does it take to export a video?

Similar to caption creation, export time varies depending on your device and the length of the video. On newer devices, a typical export for one minute of SDR video may take only a few seconds, while HDR export may take around 30 seconds per minute of video.

Why does exporting take longer than caption creation?

Creating captions analyzes the audio. Exporting renders a new video with captions, styling, timing, and audio, which takes more processing time.

Premium & Purchases

What does Premium include?

Premium unlocks longer videos, karaoke-style captions, advanced caption editing, saved styles, no ads, caption file downloads, and a more complete offline-capable workflow.

Can I unlock just one video?

Yes. Verbatim offers a single-video unlock for users who do not need a subscription.

How long does a single-video unlock last?

A single-video unlock is valid for the selected video for 30 days. It unlocks features such as karaoke-style captions, advanced caption editing, and the ability to download caption files in both SRT and ASS formats.

Can I restore my purchase?

Yes. Use Restore Purchases in the app to restore eligible purchases linked to your Apple ID.

Why might Premium require an occasional internet connection?

Verbatim may need to periodically validate subscription status, restore purchases, or refresh purchase information. Premium users have a fully offline workflow, but subscription validation may be required after being offline for more than 72 hours.

Device & Compatibility

Which devices work best with Verbatim?

Newer iPhones and iPads perform best because caption creation and video export use on-device processing. Older devices may work, but processing can take longer.

Why is my device slower than expected?

Speed depends on device model, video length, video resolution, battery state, available storage, and other apps running in the background.

Can I use Verbatim while offline?

Caption creation and video export can work offline. Some features, such as purchases, subscription verification, restoring purchases, and ads, may require internet access.
